Popular music star Taylor Swift won both 'Artist of the Year' and 'Artist of the Decade' awards this year at the American Music Awards (AMA).  Pop superstar Swift has won six awards this year, and her total AMA award stands at 29.  Organizers say Taylor Swift has surpassed popsicle Michael Jackson's record of 24 awards with the award.


 The best artist of the decade was announced at the start of the awards ceremony on Sunday night.  The show was a surprise to see who was the best artist of the year.  Finally Taylor Swift made it her own by chasing popular artists Drake, Ariana Grande, Halsey and Post Malone.


 "The past 12 months have given me some of the most amazing times, as well as the hardest things I've ever done in my life," said Swift, who is passionate about meeting people at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, USA, before receiving the award.  Speaking at the award ceremony, Swift said the honor was a celebration of hard work, art, joy and memory that spanned 10 years.  The most important memory I have is that I was with you, I was with my fans.


 Swift has previously won the Favorite Pop or Rock Album Award for her latest album 'Lover'.  The victory overthrew Michael Jackson and made him the most successful AMA artist to date.


 Teenager Billy Ellis also won the award for Best New Artist at the AMA Awards.  The 17-year-old alternative rock artist thanked his fans for accepting the award.  He appeared on the event wearing a T-shirt with the slogan 'No Music on a Dead Planet' for environmental protection.  Rapper Post Malone, who was nominated in seven categories this year for the AMA Award, won the Best Rap or Hip-Hop Award for his 'Hollywood Bleeding' album.  Pop star Halsey received the Best Pop or Rock Award for her hit hit Me Album.  Carrie Underwood won the Best Country Artist and Country Album Award.


 Fighting disappointment after a kidney transplant in 2017, musician Selena Gomez makes her first live TV performance through the program.  At the awards ceremony, AMA award-winning music star Tony Braxton, 25, country music star Thomas Rhett, celebrity couple Camilla Cabello and Shawn Mendes, longtime backstage Ozzie Osborne, Mellon, Travis Scott and Canadian musician Shania Paria attended their performances.
